Windows Vista Video
That day, when I first saw a movie clipping on my uncle’s
latest computer, I felt that, I was being taken to new
world. It was a total new experience. The sound was
nice and video quality of the movie was so excellent.
Thanks to Windows Vista Video. I just wondered how it
is possible. I asked my uncle about the quality that
I saw. He told me that it was Media Player, the wonderful,
magnificent software that did so.
What is a Media Player?
The Media Player is the software that was developed
for playing sounds, videos, movies, which is stored
in the computer, compact discs, and any other storage
media. The media player was designed by the Microsoft,
for playing music, various sounds. Earlier, the media
player had supported a very few file formats, such as
WAV. The invention of newer compressing tools, led to
development of a new technology called MP3. The MP3
format reduced file size to 3/4, which enabled one to
store more songs. This file was not supported in older
versions of Media Players. So, Microsoft introduced
newer version of Media Player along with other new features.
This is how the Media Player history evolved.
Upgraded Version of Media Player
Windows Vista will get an upgraded version of media
player as a default media player, the Media Player series
11. It is still under its beta. It has got a new look,
a pot full of new features. These features include URGE
services from MTV digital music services, Simplified
Library, Library layouts. One can play or purchase million
numbers of songs from MTV by using the URGE services.
One can purchase albums of various great singers, collection
of songs from different kinds, from the URGE services.
The library items are shown in the left pane, same as
in earlier version of Media Player. However, the right
pane looks different by default. The items in right
panel include artists, albums, songs, genres, years,
and ratings. Library layout views define the layout
of library, such as what should be displayed when a
layout is selected. Library views are customizable with
Icon, Tile, and Detail options. The icon option displays
the library items along with icon. Tile will tile the
library items. The detail option shows the details of
each item. The design of Media Player 11 has changed
a lot, than its previous version. The default color
used for Windows Media Player 11 is coffee black, just
the same as task bar of windows vista. To simply the
design, the classic menus of Media Player have been
turned off by default. One can access the classic menu
items by turning it ON by right clicking any where on
frame of the media player. Navigation has been made
easier than ever before by moving the navigation buttons
on top left corner. Revamped playback controls. The
new playback controls are easier to find and use. There
are many improvements with repeat, shuffle, and full-screen
options. With one click over the status area we change
the look of that area to have thumbnail view of equalizer,
album art, or to display the playback status. The device
detection is made still an easy task in Media Player
11. If one connects a windows Media Player compatible
device to the computer, then the device gets detected
on its own, and installs the necessary software which
enables the device, without asking for manufacturer’s
disks. These devices are called as Windows Vista compatible
devices, and have a windows vista logo with the title
"Windows Vista Compatible" on it. One can
store and enjoy music, video, pictures, and recorded
TV. Just as music, enjoy listing in the Library pane,
such as video, pictures, and recorded TV contents. One
can enjoy new features available in the music library,
such thumbnail and stacking views. The sound quality
has been improved. One can hear clearer sounds. One
can make use of instant search capabilities, extended
to each media category, which provides a simple, uniform,
totally different experience in handling the Media Player. |
