What people should expect from next Windows Vista
updates? Microsoft has released change log for
Vista Service Pack 1. Many visitors have given the good comments. So, I
thought to write an article on such valuable comments.
Many have appreciated the work done in bringing out Vista
Service Pack 1. But, those, who abused Microsoft of being less quality
in bringing out certain features, are the real well wishers.
That’s what I felt. I too as an admirer of Mr. Gates, one of
the founders of the multi billionaire company today, will accuse
Microsoft of removing certain features and will not forget to mention
about positive points in it. Let us begin our journey on what is
required, what is not required, what make vista better, etc, now.
Windows Vista Home Basic
lacks some attraction
I recently installed Windows Vista Home Basic into my
computer. What I first felt was, to be frank; Windows Vista Home Basic
lacks some attraction at the startup. Windows XP was far better than
it. I really enjoyed the startup screen of Windows XP, which showed
Windows XP logo on it. Microsoft should focus on bringing out new
startup screen at least now onwards.
After going through the comments made out by the users in the
change log page, I found many things to improve to make Vista a better
operating system. For example there is a clock in the side bar. If this
clock is visible, the clock on the task bar should go off hiding. The
side bar clock should also display the time in seconds too, even if you
choose any one of digital and analog clocks. Decent
looking programs menu
Now, coming to the task bar menu, Microsoft has fallen behind
producing a quality standard decent looking programs menu. If you ask
me which start menu’s you liked the most, I will probably say
Windows XP. What Microsoft should have done is, they should have kept
the same menu design. I definitely expect a change at least in Vista
SP1 itself, if not in Vista SP2.
Aero should be present in Home Basic version Regarding
aero theme, I right now request Microsoft to introduce the aero theme
fully, in Home Basic also. People look for something new, when they buy
upgraded version of the product. Many people will look for Home Basic,
as the prices are low, when compared to Home Premium and other editions
of Windows Vista.
Where is new movie maker Many, in
Microsoft.com have asked for new version of Movie Maker. I too will
ask, why Microsoft, a reputed company failed to bring out an entire new
version of Movie Maker for Vista? Is it counting on 2008 or even 2010
to release a new version?
Some have asked for better burning software for Windows Vista. It is
better if the software itself should decide in which speed it should
burn DVD’s and CD’s.
Expecting improved GUI As I told
earlier, the GUI (Graphical User Interface) should improve a lot. The
graphical rendering of icons, particularly the large icons, has to go
too far for getting better.
Should give better shot What I feel is
Microsoft should redesign entire Windows Vista itself, rather than any
individual components. It has got good couple of new features but,
lacks some credibility, when compared to its predecessor, the Windows
XP.
