Computers help human beings to retrieve information
as quick as possible. The growth of information technology
has resulted in the development of programs, which gives
accurate and correct needed information to the needful
within no time. As number of programs grows in a computer
system, the access for a particular program becomes
difficult and time consuming. The user has to navigate
through many links, in the path before he could access
the required program. For example, in windows, getting
access to the calculator program, which resides in Accessories,
is cumbersome for new comers. One has to traverse the

One was able to automatically hide the side bar, if
required, by selecting Auto Hide option. In Windows
Vista the side bar application became a part of the
operating system. If one does not want it to appear,
then they can select hide option in the side bar. The
side bar consist of clock, space for news updates, shortcut
to photo gallery, various program shortcuts, and a recycle
bin icon, which takes one to the recycle bin.
Vista sidebar gadgets, What does it support?
The side bar supports gadgets like picture slide shows,
windows media player controls and new headlines. Gadgets
are mini-applications, which offer easy access to information,
and also provide easy access to the frequently used
tools. For example, a gadget can give one, a glance
view of all online instant messaging contacts, the day
view from the calendar.
It can also give an easy way to control the media player
too. One can download more gadgets from the gadget gallery
which is available in the Microsoft web site. One can
also move gadgets off the Windows Sidebar and place
them anywhere on the desktop. The side bar too has got
issues pertaining to memory. Some people like the side
bar to be present with final release of windows vista.
It will be nice to have side bar as the optional component,
which can be installed later. Some claim that side bar
is a program that requires a high end system; with a
High speed CPU, higher amount of Hard Disk free space
and Memory, as it occupies lot of memory in both RAM
and Hard Disk. Whether the side bar reside in the full
version of windows or not, it has won the support of
many people for its quickness in launching an application.
