Integration of Firewall with Windows Service Hardening
The common thing between Windows Vista and Windows
XP Service Pack 2 is the personal firewall; it is built
on the same principle that is included with Microsoft
Windows XP Service Pack 2. Unlike windows NT4 firewall
Windows Vista's firewall blocks all inbound traffic
until you install the latest security updates on your
computer.
Two-way firewall for security enhancement
What I like about the firewall is the two-way firewall
that allows outbound filtering which enables users to
configure it to selectively block both outbound traffic
and inbound traffic. You can configure every aspect
of Windows Vista's firewall using Group Policy settings,
so client security settings remain constant.
This is the first Windows operating system where Windows
Vista firewall management is integrated with ipsec.
The firewall is integrated closely with Windows Service
Hardening to restrict hacker's attacks, providing in-depth
defense support to Windows Vista user's computers. IPSEC
will not start until it's recognized by firewall.
It's different from hardening a windows xp system,
Windows Service Hardening do not allow critical Windows
services from doing abnormal activities in the file
system, registry, network, or any other resources that
could be used to allow malware to install itself.

Procedure Call RPC service can be restricted from replacing
system files or modifying the registry. It can able
to disable remote procedure call. Using Windows Vista
