Relationship between Windows7 and Vista, Pista and a plateful of pasta
After tasting Vista, Pista, and a plateful of Pasta, it is the right time to know about 7. You might be wondering why my words coming out like this. You might even ask me, is there any relationship between 7 and Vista, Pista and a plateful of pasta.
What made me to talk about this is, that Microsoft a popular brand name in the filed of computers, particularly the operating systems, is releasing a new sensation baby called “Windows 7”, likely to hit the market during early 2010. It is slightly grown fetus in the womb of its creator, the Microsoft!
Just months before its release of its public BETA, Windows 7 is making in roads for the company which dominated an entire era of operating systems. Looking at the early beta’s, one can say that these major releases will fix up some of major problems faced in Windows Vista. But, Microsoft says that it will redesign the entire working environment in the coming days.
Windows 7 - Black Comb
Earlier code named as “Black comb”, the next version of Windows sprang a surprise in getting the name Windows 7. There were rumors around, that this major version will be named as “Windows Vienna”. But, Microsoft set aside the idea.
Version number for Windows 7
Microsoft itself got confusion in determining version number for Windows 7. People around, may think that Windows 7 will be the 7th version of Windows and will contain 7.0 as version number. But, that’s not so. This Windows of course, will contain the version number of Windows 2008 Server that is, 6.1.
Major Modifications to Built In Programs like Calculator, Wordpad etc.
As features are concerned, Microsoft has shown good signs of making computing better with Windows 7, in its build versions. From Windows 95, till Windows Vista, Microsoft has not done any major modifications to built-in programs such as calculator, WordPad, paint. But, in its build versions, Windows 7 has shown major changes to these programs. One can expect graphical interface change also in some up coming releases of build versions, before its final release to the market.
Whenever, an existing system is being modified, people around it would expect some new features in it, when they compare the new one to the old one. Likewise, Windows 7 has got some excellent features and numerous problem fixes for the problems found in Windows Vista.
Program Compatibility Issues
I as a sheer admirer of Microsoft products, have to say something special on Windows 7 release. To keep popularity of new operating system, Microsoft must re-think in its product designs. For getting people around for Windows Vista, Microsoft did a vault face and removed the compatibility for older programs. To people like me, this was not fair on part of Microsoft. As I expected, due to this, Windows Vista lost its charm within few months, just like its earlier product, Windows ME.
I have removed Windows Vista and installed much better old fox, Windows XP for this one reason, because, I use Visual Basic 6.0 which will not gets installed in Windows Vista. Technically speaking, No doubt, Windows 7 will shine in the market, provided it reintroduces the compatibility for older programs.
