For example, One cannot work with the Windows Easy Transfer, if one has got CD-Writer in the new system which is absent, or do not support in the old system. Also, Windows Easy Transfer of Windows Vista will not support floppy disks as a transfer medium. Devices such as CD-Writers, DVD-Writers, External Hard disks, USB flash drives, Easy transfer cable are among supported devices. If both the systems run Windows Vista, then one need not worry much on installing the software. The CD given with the Easy transfer cable comes with the device drivers, that detects the presence of cable connected to the computer. After the installation of software and device drivers, one is able to transfer the files and settings from one computer to another.

One cannot transfer a program from old computer to new computer. One can only transfer just the program settings.
